The year after we bought the farm we bought our 1st Clydesdales - a pair of mares called Dolly and Goldie - sisters...  They were pregnant at the time so within a year we had 4. Over the next few years we had more babies and at one time we had a herd of 12...  

We had 2 working teams and planned on using them to do the maple sap gathering - however we discovered that although it was a good idea in principle it would be hard to execute as it would require someone to be with the horses to work them and we didn't have enough help to do that.  Also with our aging health it was going to become more and more difficult.  

So, we start to downsize the number of horses and equipment we had and now just keep our teams for pleasure.  Not only are they a beautiful animal they are kind and laid back - in fact they are called the golden retriever of horses.
